Fabulous Trade

I saw this absolutely fantastic necklace on Flickr and immediately thought that I wanted it so bad. I absolutely loved the design. So I wrote to the artist asking if this necklace was available. She replied to me saying that it is in fact available and she would love to do a trade. "Perfect..." I thought, I couldn't thought of a better idea. The trade was in my head too, I just wasn't sure if that's appropriate to ask. And she happens to live in Austin, TX (I'm in Houston,TX), small world...it's almost like shopping local. She wanted me to make a Nuno Felted scarf for her daughter in pastel green/blue/lavender colours. So I went with lavender, I thought it's perfect for a teenager who probably wears jeans all the time ( I might be wrong here...). It was a perfect trade, my first ever. So, if you ever see something that you like, don't hesitate to ask if the artist is willing to do a trade with you. He/she might agree or not, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Visit Randee's Etsy shop for more of her beautiful work.

  1. Hi, I did once at a workshop with someone who brought beautifull sari's with her. I gave her my first layered art-object. It is a good deal to trade as long as both are happy! (an old dutch expression says to childs swapping gives tears....) Anyway you both did a good trade!

  2. Olga, you're so sweet! I actually felt that I came out on the best end of this trade--and I am sooo pleased that such a talented artist is wearing my work. My daughter just got her braces off today (After 8 years!!!!) and the scarf is her congratulations present--today!
Thanks again so much, and I look forward to seeing your new work.
    Yours gratefully,
    Randee

  3. Hi Dorie, oh saris are beautiful, I have yet to try felting with it. I agree trades are a great idea, you give and you get, what can be more exciting. Randy here was getting a surprise package, she decided not to see the photos of the scarf before I mailed it. Makes me feel really good since she was that confident in my work.
Hi Randee, congrats to your daughter, she made it ! Tough girl ! If one can handle braces for 8 years, one can achieve anything in their life. And I'm really honoured to wear your artwork, I'm sure I'll get tons of compliments. Your necklace is absolutely fantastic !!!
